Is your inbox getting more junk in the trunk? When I read an email the other morning with the subject line (and I kid you not), “Watch Women Hit Each Other…On Roller Skates!” I decided I needed to have a little come to Jesus meeting with myself. It was time to start unsubscribing.
It’s not so much that one particular e-mail that sent me over the edge (and believe me, I was actually more intrigued by it than I was compelled to hit delete,) but just the overall realization that it’s hard to stay focused and get things done with all of the clutter coming at you. You know how it goes – one email read and deleted – yay! – and then 3 more incoming. It’s hard to stay on top of it all.
I’ve signed up for lots of cool newsletters because I love scouring the web to discover the best finds, whether they be deals on products, the best apps for smart phones, or unique lifestyle items. I stay with them for a while to make sure they are giving good quality content and turning me on to things I think myself or my readers would be interested in. I’m going to continue to do that, and know that by giving my inbox a good weeding, I can now do it even better. I believe many of us share the same goal in wanting only quality information, which is why I’m happy to be able to provide that info to my readers.
So, while I head over and “unsubcribe” to those emails I no longer need, I hope you’ll subscribe to my newsletter here. I won’t flood your mailbox, share any of your information, or become needy or clingy. I promise, I’ll be more like an aloof boyfriend, playing it cool. I’ll come calling every once in a while to see if you like what I have to offer and, you know, if not, that’s cool – maybe I’ll see ya around sometime. Or whatever.
How about you – does your inbox need to go on a diet? What have you unsubscribed from lately?
