Today one of our fellow PunkWives, Susan, is making her debut. And watch out, because she is on Fi-YAH! In keeping with the inspiration theme from the recent video we posted, she talks about getting into the frame of mind to get things done. Take it away, Susan!
I am a punk-wife, punk-mom, punk-maid, punk-chef, punk-employee, etc. (I could go on forever!)! I am all these things, and more, but I am at that point in my life where I feel stuck. I don’t feel like I am doing any one of these things to my full potential, because it is too easy to let it all feel so overwhelming! I have listened to fellow moms who tell you that you just need to live without certain things, or find a way to do without. And I say, those people just suck! I am not talking material things, I am talking about the ones who say that it will be OK if your house is not clean enough or if you do not make it to your kids school functions. But again, I say those people just suck! That approach will not work if these things are the very things that make you tick! My house has to be in order and somewhat clean, or I just can’t function; and I know my kids will be OK if I don’t make it to all their school functions – but I will not be OK!
So, instead of convincing myself to live with or without some of these things, I have started telling myself to just do it…just do it now! Just do things one task at a time, and take it one day at a time. Fold the load of laundry that is sitting there (NOW!) instead of waiting for 10 loads to pile up. Just do the breakfast dishes (NOW!) instead of waiting for all the dishes to pile up by the end of the day! I have found that if I just tackle things as they come, they don’t pile up and I don’t feel so overwhelmed.
So, let’s hear it ladies…what is it that you need to just do…NOW!?
